This course provides the Officer/Detective with a mid-level knowledge of processing the scene for latent fingerprint impressions using Chemical processing methods as well as methods using contrasting colored fingerprint powders. Chemical processing techniques which may include Iodine, Ninhydrin, Cyano-Acrylate, Wet-wop, Gentian violet, silver nitrate for complex surfaces and multiple substrates and techniques to apply chemicals in the proper sequence. Processing techniques for using powders. Techniques for lifting developed print.     Processing techniques for blood specific latent and patent prints using Leucocrystal violet. The course includes mid-level comparison exercises as well as a final exam which consist of thirty developed fingerprints lifters that are identified using know fingerprint impressions.

A pre-requisite for this course is "Basic Fingerprint" which is hosted at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, or equivalent 40-hour PTC approved basic fingerprint course (certificate required).
